Bangladesh is our homeland. It is not a big country. Its climate is moderate. The natural scenery of Bangladesh is very charming. People of different casts and creeds live here. Most of the people live in village. But the standard of living of the people is not high. Most of them are poor. They live from hand to mouth. They have no good houses to live in . people of different areas live in different. Kinds of houses. The houses of the rural areas are quite different from those of the urban areas. There are many kinds of houses in Bangladesh.
In the village many people live in bamboo houses. Some of these houses have roofs, made of straw and others have tin roofs. In the towns people usually live in houses made of bricks. Bangladesh is a hot country but in the inter cold winds blow from the north and we keep the north side of our house closed. People also grow big tall trees on the north. It is done only to prevent cold air.
Bangladesh is a marshy land too. Many houses are made on the platforms of hard mud. In the wet weather water covers the grounds but the platforms do not sink under the water. They are like little islands and they keep the houses dry. Some of our houses are not the bamboo poles. Water can go under houses but does not go into them. In Bangladesh there is another kind of house. It is made of wood but is not on the ground. Bangladesh is a land of rivers and here many people live in wooden boats. These boats are their houses and they move from one place to another with them. The lower class people live in that kind of houses.
